We missioned up to Raleigh/Diamondback HQ a few weeks back to meet the team behind the world’s oldest bicycle company.
One of the standout bikes that we spotted was the Diamondback Bandito – DB’s jump/street/park/hack bike and an evolution of the ‘Lex’ that we’ve seen a bit of in the mag in previous issues.
The Bandito is designed in the UK, 4130 chromo frame, innovative chainstay bridge, loads of upgrade potential and costs you a very reasonable £469.99. With councils all over the UK banging out pumptracks and legal trails we reckon this could be a great little play bike to add to the stable.
Here’s a few words from the Bandito’s designer Mike Sanderson:
Our very own Bandito just landed with test pilot Joe up in the Steel City and is currently getting blasted round his back garden pump track. First comments are great:
“So far so good, looks great straight out of the box. On first looks, love the blue finish, wide bars, and not too weighty package. Pedals and grips are my only gripe right now and have been swapped out for peaty lizard skins an Shimano dx. Off out for a pump now!”
We’ve got some very special plans for testing this one. We’re a bit bored of the old ‘words and pictures’ approach to bike tests so have asked Joe and a few others to cook up something a bit special. Stay tuned to see what they come up with…
Cheers Diamondback!
