Counting down to Round1

Blimey – is that the off-season REALLY done and dusted?

With just 24 hours to go till we leave for round 1 of the Halo British Downhill Series it’s time to start thinking about the weekend ahead. Gotta say, I’m absolutely buzzing to get started. Wideopen has got a brand new race team, we’ve got better pits,  we’ve got Chaz Curry as team mechanic, we’ve got better cameras to capture the action and we’ve got  Paul Roberts and Jacob Gibbins back for another year working for us.  Like I said, buzzing.

So Round 1 is at Nant Gwrtheyrn up in North Wales. The track is a steep, loose and rocky affair. There’s pedally sections and technical sections alike so there should be a pretty level field for everyone.

Probably the best thing is the absolutely stunning sea side location. Nant pretty much finishes on the beach and the North Wales coast is bloomin’ amazing. Expect some stunning videos and photos to appear online early next week.

How’s the weather looking?
Erm… mixed at the moment. We’ve got sun on Saturday for practice and rain on Sunday for racing! Tyre choice is anyone’s guess – I expect we’ll be starting on the Continental Kaisers (all rounders) and maybe switching over to something like a Der Baron (wet weather all rounder) if things get sloppier.

Last but not least – WATCH AWESOME VIDEOS – WIN AWESOME PRIZES (it’s back!)
This is probably the best bit. Every race our pro-video-dude Paul Roberts will be filming the action and uploading it onto the interweb. His vids were bloody brilliant last season and he’s aiming to blow them out of the water this year!

Not only will you get an awesome race video BUT you’ll also get the chance to win a mountain of awesome prizes alongside.

So far we’ve got goodies from Juice Lubes, Riders Retreat and O’Neal… and the prize pot is going to keep growing all season. Don’t miss out!
