This last week Wideopen has been spread all over the country, Jamie has been busy road tripping up to Sheffield for some riding and to take part in the Peaty Steel Series race, James is busy working on the next issue of the mag and I’ve been soaking up the rays on the slopes in Scotland practising falling over!
While I was away Postman Pat dropped a few tasty morsels of product for testing, first up is the Cane Creek Double Barrel. Dave at Orange Bikes has been raving about this shock for a while now and I eventually gave in and got hold of one to test on my Orange Alpine 160, out goes the Fox DHX and in comes some of North Carolina’s finest. The Double Barrel is renowned for transforming bikes so we’ll see how much difference it makes to a very familiar bike and what settings are required to achieve that. Retail price is £535 and is distributed in the UK by ExtraUK.

Next up is the Dakine Amp 12L, it’s their mid range bag, ideal for short to medium xc rides and with a three litre water bladder inside, more than enough liquid! The bag is going into our hydration pack group test for issue fifteen so I’ll be putting it through its paces over the coming weeks.. Retail price is £80 and is distributed by Surf Sales.

Last but by no means least a couple of things from our friends at Alpkit, admittedly these arrived a little while ago and they got swiftly buried amongst the post-Christmas panic but here we go. Firstly are these neat little stem caps, with a few choice phrases etched onto them, take your pick selling for £7.50 from their online shop.

This is their Mission Pack, a collection of siliconised zipped pouches. Super handy for organising bits and pieces, I’ve got all the junk in the boot of my car organised with them, retailing for £10 a set.
