There’s going to be a charity urban race next year – with funds going to the Stay Strong Stephen Murray fund. Looks like a great race and a great cause. Here’s the details copied straight from the Facebook site.
A downhill mountain bike race through the university of Plymouth campus.
- The charity will be the ‘Stay Strong fund’
This if you don’t know is the Stephen Murray Fund. It was originally set up in order to help the family survive after Stephen became paralyzed back in 2007. It has now developed to help like minded families that are struggling with severe illness or difficulties.
– The track will be kept under wraps until race day.
– BC categories…16+ only. Prizes will be given for the top 3 riders in each category. Along with a trophy for the 1st place of each.
– The event date is the 24th April 2010. Race day being the Saturday, with a night out in the SU in the evening (entry is included with a valid wristband, if you don’t have a wrist band you will have to pay).
– Entry forms are via www.woodlandriders-racing.co.uk . Deadlines are due in the month before race day. This event is limited to 240 people MAX!!! No Exceptions
- Cost of entry £30. This includes race plate, entry into the after party, individual liability insurance.
– Please note you must be in the Students Union before 23:30 or you will NOT be let in (not my rules, this is the Union saying this).
– I have secured a number of rooms in Jurys inn for a set price of £69 per room per night, rooms sleep 3 and breakfast is included in the price BARGIN! The hotel offers secure underground parking to ensue your steeds are kept safe!
– No on campus parking will be available.
– There will be trade stands selling goods from companies that are sponsoring the event. As well as demo bikes, Trials demos and more

1st run 12:30
2nd run 15:00
Prize Giving 17:00
AFTER PARTY IN STUDENTS UNION WITH VALID WRISTBAND, if you want a wristband but aren’t competing then they will be available for a small charge…£3 per wristband. Payable via bank transfer before the day.
No race licence is needed to enter the event. No refunds.
