Anyone heard that ‘Start Wearing Purple’ song by Gogol Bordello?
Well – all of us press and media types are gonna be doing just that at the BritishDHSeries with these brand new media bibs. Big Dave at the BDS just sent over the first look shots of ‘em for you all to check out. Pretty slick I think you’ll agree…
So why bother with media bibs?
Other than to make us all feel super important and therefore more likely to do a good job… They make sure that the BDS team and the marshals know exactly where we all are and we’ll stand out like a sort thumb if we’re on track or taking photos where we shouldn’t! So – they make the whole thing safer.
They’ll also give the riders a nice, big, flashing signal to turn on the style and tear it up for the cameras! Keep an eye out for a flash of purple, turn on the style and you’re almost guaranteed to see your photo in a race report somewhere on the web or in a mag. More photos of you means more props from your sponsors. This is a Good Thing!
Dave wanted us to be sure to give a BIG shout out to www.spcprinters.co.uk who designed and printed the bibs. If you want stuff printed, give ‘em a shout. They’re in the UK and will sort you out. They’re also (as you can see…) supported by the guys at Warehouseexpress.com who are not only sponsoring the series, but giving out prizes for the best photo at each round. Get snapping and you’ve got a chance to win – no purple bib required!
That’s it – keep ‘em locked to Wideopen for a mountain of awesome BritishDHSeries content. We’ll have live updates from every race, a race video the week after, race reports in the mag… and even some very special competitions.
Last but not least, log on to http://britishdhseries.co.uk/ for more info.

I’m Gald, I look great in Purple!
It’s gonna look fly with my purple and gold leisure suit
I want to know why I’m number 3…., mind you, that is a magic number. Yeah, I kind of like it. In your face numbers 1 and 25
I’m number f-ckin 7 mate! 7!! It’s a bloody odd number!!
Lucky though. That’s my house number. Mind you, I wasn’t lucky the other day when I went to Mingewood and completely lost any enthusiasm before the season has even started. I put it down to the clocks and all that.
Normal service will be resumed at UKBP.
You can’t even complain about lack of ‘pros’ at Bringewood for a change! I’m number 26.. always the disorganised one..
mate – when I throw on my purple vest – i’m gonna feel like the king of the world. See you at UKBP Duckster!
Extra brownie points to the tog who wears the most clashing colours..
BDS this year is filled with such an amazing level of riders, sponsors, media, and general organisation.
BDS 2010 will be the series to remember and compare against! I’m looking forward to bibbing up!
