Welcome aboard Ireland!

January 18th, 2010

So here’s the deal – we want to show of UK racing here in Wideopen and do our bit to shout about how awesome the talent is that makes it so good. When Irish young gun Dan Sheridan dropped us an email about covering the Irish race scene we couldn’t help but bite his hand off. I don’t know a huge amount about the Irish scene, but judging by Dan’s repos and our recent interview with the Break the Cycle team it looks pretty bloody awesome – definitely a scene worth making some noise about.

So – introducing Dan Sheridan – he’s 15, rides for the Tomac UK team and is from Dublin. He won the 2008 Irish Champs and National Series and is now part of the Wideopen team. He’ll be covering the Irish Winter and National races for us and is going to make sure we tell the world how awesome Irish racing is. He’ll be doing the racing and reporting and his mate Aidan Tarbett will be taking some photos for us.

Things are going bloody well so far ‘cos Dan just won the first round of the Irish Winter Series at Bree. He fired me a quick email to say:

“Just a quick update before I go to bed, I won the race at the weekend, 18 seconds or so ahead of 2nd place. I had a bad run with my feet blowing off 3 times but still managed to win it, my time would have put me 3rd in Juniors I think, About a second from winning juniors which I think I would have had with a clean run!”

So… welcome aboard Dan and Aiden! Here’s a mini-interview with Dan that I lifted off his website:
