Day 4 – Schladming Pizza
After the first day’s terrible pizza I thought last night would be a good time to see if I could find a much better quality pizza for my dinner. So me and Scott Marshall of MTBCut fame took the 5 minute walk to Schladminger square to try and find some 1st class grub. Luckily enough we came across Jacob Gibbins of Cosmo fame and his buddy Scott Cartwright of Shavenredheads.com. They were sat outside a local restaurant consuming what looked like a very tasty pizza and slurping up the last mouthfuls of what looked like an equally tasty orange juice. Current World Cup Champion Greg Minnaar and his friends were also eating at this place so it must have been bloody top grub. Bloody ideal I thought.
Unfortunately enough our luck wasn’t in. This is how it went:
“Sorry sir the kitchen is closed.”
“Dang, would there be any other pizza establishments nearby please?”
“Yes sir there is a pizza bar just 50 metres down the road on the left, best pizza in Schladming.”
Bloody ideal. This was the break we’d been waiting for. We said goodbye to our friends Scott and Jacob and found this new pizza place 52 metres down the road, just 2 metres outside of the waiter’s guestimate of 50 metres. He’d certainly done his homework, bloody hell.
First impressions of the Pizza bar were good; we were greeted by a clean shop front with a recently cleaned window. Extra points were given for the attention to detail with the decorative curtains on the lower half of the window, bloody stylish. As we walked into the shop we saw that there were 4 guests, two were sat at a table next to the door and two at what could be called a “bar” at the back of the establishment. Both sets of Schladminger couples seemed to be experiencing a bloody good time in this place so more points are awarded. One couple had this to say:
“Best pizza in whole of Australia”
A good selection of drinks are on offer in Das Kleine Cafe
So more points for Das Kleine Cafe for a positive review from an impartial customer. Things are certainly shaping up for a favourable review so far. Schladminger’s best pizza place certainly had a menu to match it’s top reputation in length, no less than 18 different types of pizza are on offer here so make sure you don’t have that thing that Rainman had or you’ll be totally screwed. Bloody hell.
So all that was left to review was the pizza, served of course with a healthy slice of good service from the proprietor. We settled for the cheapest option which was a cheap and cheerful Margherrita pizza for just €5.20. All I can say was it was a shitload better than that cardboard hell that they served me in the kebab shop on Wednesday. Bloody amazing.
Service with a smile
So in review, the Das Kleine Cafe served a better than average pizza with good service and for a great price. I give it a bloody impressive 6 slices out of 8.
Oh and DH practice was on today, everyone looked fast and someone will certainly win tomorrow.

Check back for actual riding updates tomorrow after the race.

bloody good review of what appears to be a bloody good pizza establishment.
I hate it when mags only review fancy foreign World Cup product that I can’t get hold of over here in the UK. More grass roots pizza action!
