First Look: Gamut and Mozartt chain guides

We’ve just received two new chain devices here at Wideopenmag HQ from Mozartt and Gamut – both of which are worth shouting about.

Rather than wait for the next mag to come out we wanted to shout about them here first…

The Gamut P20 is brand new to the range for 2013 and claims to be ‘lighter, simpler, stronger and … sexier’.  Given how light Gamut devices are anyway any weight saving is super impressive indeed. The P20′s big updates come in the form of the new tougher and lighter bashring and the new concept of using a rubber O-ring in place of a bottom roller. The idea being that it’s lighter, less hassle and cheaper to replace. There’s also no moving parts or bearings to gack up.

The P20 fits via all the usual ways and fits chain rings from 32t to 34t.

£TBC – should be around £90 http://www.gamutusa.com

Next in the postbox is Mozartt’s WOG chain guide which is so incredibly bloody simple it makes you wonder why you’d need anything else. You’ve got a 5.5mm thick CNC’d back plate and abrasion resistant poly top and bottom cages with a plastic roller with a sealed bearing. The whole thing is super light at 120 grams and comes in 5 colours.
