2012 is going to be a big year for us here at Wideopenmag with an all new race team leading the charge…
South West Champ Jay Williamson is the first of two new downhill riders to join the family and will race in the expert cat for us at the Halo British Downhill Series, select IXS cups and South West regionals/champs.
Jay got in contact a couple of months ago and we were super impressed at how quick, talented and damn hard working he is -anyone that races almost 20 events in a season has got to be worth a shot! Given that he’s quick, he’s a grafter and he’s a nice guy we snapped him up without delay.
Jay is 18 years old, he’s from Downderry in Cornwall and he loves downhill, moto and surfing. You can usually see him tearing up Gawton or Triscombe and (up to now) has ridden for Certini Bicycle co and Driftmtb.
Jay is the 2011 junior South West champion and has also bagged top 3 results at MIJ, Woodlands riders, WDMA, UK Bike Park, Kustom Bikes and North Wales Series races. Look out for him flying the flag for Wideopenmag in 2011.
