Forest of Dean Mini Downhill December 2011 (now with video)

Last weekend saw the latest round of Chris Roberts’ Mini Downhill events at the Forest of Dean – using the Ski Run track.

The track included a fast open top section with lots of rocks and roots and a couple of narrow gaps, a steep drop down into the middle section with lots of exposed roots to catch riders out and a nice finish with a little hip table to a sprint to the 20ft table where the crowd gathered before the last berms and roadgap.

Watching practice, Junior rider James Whitby was looking very quick and where others had problems through the tricky root and rock sections he looked fast and controlled. This reflected in his race runs and he took the win from Andy Bennett by a second. Another rider that impressed in the junior men was Will Skuse who rides for the North Nibley racing team and took a respectable 7th place overall. However, the rider that must have out for everyone was Duncan Ferris in the pro am cat. He was pinned in practice, looked awesome all day and took the win on his first runoff the day. Not far behind him was Carl Bartleman who was only .06 behind first place.

Overall it was a great day with lots of great riding – I’m looking forward to the next one in January!

Thanks to Chris Roberts and the Naked Racing team. Check out the full results here and the Naked Racing page here.

Thanks to Alex James for the words and photos. More from him at Rd2 in January!
