The latest from the 2011 King of Dirt

The lovely people at the British King of Dirt crew just got in touch to let us know about the 2011 series. The good new is that the series is GO for this summer!

You should of all noticed by now; there IS going to be a King of Dirt 2011, with the added complication of a ‘global economic crisis’, there has understandable been a lot of changes going on with a lot of our sponsors, riders and venues, with this in mind and a debt accrued from last year series, we had to totally rethink the series to make sure we KOD survives, whilst still giving the riders and fans a great show.

So KOD has 2 main components:

NASS
King of Dirt 2011 British Championships will be a one off event, held at Relentless NASS festival (8th – 10th July). The Competition will have 2 categories as usual Open and Elite. The Elite category is for any UK or European sponsored riders, whilst the Open category is open to any non-sponsored riders who can prove they are worthy of a place, by submitting a video or from results gained at other competitions, such as the ‘Dirt Wars’ events.

For details of how to apply for MTB NASS, please email: stacey@gwelhevyn.co.uk

Grassroots
So now for Phase 2 of our master plan; with so many other events in the UK and Europe for the Elite and Open riders to choose from, it makes sense to put most of our resource into 1 massive event, the biggest UK event of 2011.

But we also know there is plenty of great new talent out there waiting to be discovered, so we are going on tour to local jams, taking the King of Dirt team and sponsors and some great prizes to as many venues across the UK as possible, we are available to help as much or as little as the venue needs.

The Grassroots crew can assist with your event – whether you want to run a chilled out open day, a jam or a formal competition with judges. Help will start with promoting these events through our many media contacts. We will also bring some of our top UK riders, who will ride with the locals, help them nail those tricks and also give away prizes to those new talents that impress. With the added bonus that we will bring our own videography and photography crew to these events to make sure the day is captured for all to see and enjoy.

If you know of a local event happening over the next summer months, that needs the King of Dirt team and riders to come help make your event even better, or if you want to set up a new event, then please email: ross@gwelhevyn.co.uk

So far we have agreed to visit K Hole at the end of July and The Track in September, more details to follow shortly…
