Yesterday was the second round of the Schwalbe British 4X series at Penshurst Off Road Club (PORC). After some heavy rain overnight, the track walk itself was interesting, with a very slippery top surface causing me to take myself out in a berm…while walking. Fortunately, the sun then came out and by racing, the track was dry, quick, and a lot of fun. The new changes to the track were a big improvement, and racing was tight, with some first corner carnage the order of the day.
However, as can happen with a sport such as 4X, after the motos had been raced, Scott Shepherd went down very hard in the senior quarter finals. The air ambulance was called but due to the seriousness of the accident it wasn’t going to be a quick fix so Chris Roberts and his team made the right decision in calling off the rest of the racing.
From everyone here at Wideopen, our thoughts go out to Scott and his family, get better soon dude.
