Matt Simmonds Training Day

November 30th, 2009

Our mate and Eggraphy photographer Scott Cartwright popped along to one of Matt Simmonds’ DH training days at Bringewood last week. Matt’s lessons are for “Riders looking to enhance their skills in all technical aspects of riding, including jumping, cornering, line choice, tackling technical sections e.g. Drops, double jumps”. He can do xc/freeride sessions or DH sessions and reckons he can teach you something useful whatever your experience on a pushbike. His prices don’t look too bad either!

Despite some truly gopping weather, Scott was a true pro and grab us a few great snaps of Simmonds’ lesson going down. Check ‘em out and give Matt a shout if you fancy getting signed up. With any luck we’ll be able to pin him down at some point and get a bit more info. His email is matt@mattsimmonds.co.uk

Danny Hart needs a ride for 2010

November 30th, 2009

IMG_1358-1Bit of a shocker this one. After a dream season riding for Saab Salamon, UK young gun Danny Hart is in need of sponsorship for 2010.

It’s a surprising bit of news after Danny placed 3rd at the World Champs and was fastest junior at the World Cup (29th overall). Can you hook him up for 2010?

The British DH Champs is no more…

November 27th, 2009

Logo transparent

Ok so apologies if that news title was a bit dramatic, got to grab your attention yu know?

It looks after a lot of website work and some hard graft defending the cause, Si’s new ‘British DH Champs’ title has been overturned by the NPS. Apparently he fought the case at BC HQ but they were adamant that renaming the NPS to the ‘DH Champs’ would be confusing… So from now on it’s the ‘British DH Series’. Aside from that ‘issue’ reports from the meeting were good and BC are really positive about the series in 2010.

I suspect no one is really that bothered about the name… But most people will agree that British DH Series is pretty clear and should get the point across. Chip in on the comments if you have anything to say about it!

Here’s the official word from Mr Paton:

Hi everyone,
Hope this message lands with you in fine form and the goose is getting fat and not you!
Just back from a meeting with British Cycling in Manchester and the corporate axe has swung. To keep in line with the lycra and spd crew the National Series has to have the word “series” in there!
So from now on you will be looking at the “British Downhill Series”.
Dave Franciosy is doing a fantastic job on keeping the website upto date. If you can see or think of any improvements then drop him a constructive note with your ideas and suggestions of help: dave@davefranciosy.co.uk

November 24th, 2009

Final Final Jersey-01

Bright enough for you? I remember a time when you wouldn’t be seen dead in pink unless your name was Magnum PI or something. But looks like Juice Lubes aint afraid to show a bit of pink and are going BRIGHT for next season. Here’s their 2010 race kit.

Rocking the kit in 2010 will be…

Adam Price – Wideopen issue 9 coverstar
Ollie Hooper – Won the last Kustom Bikes DH race
Moss Macriner – Super quick junior
Angela Proctor – Fastest British female at the Mega Avalanche last 2 years running and regular podium placer in the UK

Good luck to ‘em all!

If you like a bit of pink contact will@juicelubes.co.uk. He reckons the shirts are team-only for the moment but if he gets enough interest he might start selling them through their site.
