British DH Series number boards are GO!

March 10th, 2010

Big Dave at the BDS just sent over the very first shots of the 2010 number boards -

I’m pretty impressed – the boards are actually going to have rider’s names on them. That way, the fans, the cameras and the mags will know exactly who you are when you’re smashing your way to victory.

Here’s the very first proto – dedicated to British Cycling’s main man for BMX, 4X and DH Roger W.

The deal is that you’ll get your custom board at sign-on and be expected to look after it for the rest of the season. If you manage to eat it or ought, Big Dave will sort you a new one for a £5′er.  There’s only one rule though this year… and that’s NO cutting up your number boards!

The boards were designed by Kevin and Stewart at www.spcprinters.co.uk.

Keep an eye on Wideopen through the season for loads of awesome race coverage and of course on http://www.britishdownhillseries.com/ for the official word.

Cheers Dave mate!

March 10th, 2010

Wideopen Magazine presents:-

The first Scottish screenings of Ronan’s Taylor’s Beyond the Threshold and Andy Yoong’s Break the Cycle.

It’s too cold and wet to get out on the bike at the moment, so why not head over to Edinburgh’s Bongo Club on March 11th to watch to of the hottest mountain bike films to hit our screens this year.

We’ll be kicking off the evening with Beyond The Threshold which showcases some of the year’s best downhill action in Scotland, England and Wales. The SDA series, World Cup and regional races are part of the high-adrenalin mix. So too are rider sections and interviews with top pros, national contenders and local riders.

Then from across the Irish see comes Break The Cycle, a film about downhill mountain bike lifestyle in Ireland. While showcasing some of the most amazing Irish landscapes, Break the Cycle will give you an insight into the lives of ten of the top Irish riders, to capture how they have managed to break the cycle of everyday life, through their passion for riding their bikes.

The event is taking place at the Bongo Club in Edinburgh on Thursday 11th March. Doors are at 7pm with the first film starting at 7.30pm. Entry is £5 on the door. ID will be required at the bar, while U18s are welcome so long as they are accompanied by an adult.

Ancillotti UK Race Team is GO!

March 9th, 2010

Ancillotti UK Race Team 2010

After some very successful seasons racing the UK domestic circuit, Ancillotti is proud to introduce its UK downhill riders and bikes for 2010.

The all-British three rider team for 2010, will be racing the entire British Downhill Series along with selected Midland and regional races, aboard their custom, hand built Italian Tomaso DHP frames.

The team will consist of…
Richy Thomas in Elite category. Richy is a familiar face on the UK DH race circuit and has progressed through the ranks since joining the team as a youth rider, enjoying a 2nd overall in the National series last year. Richy will be racing some selected world cup events with help from some personal sponsors and, of course, Ancillotti, Italy.

Jack Geoghegan in Expert category. Jack finished in 16th position at the national series in 2009. Jack has been training hard and is looking to qualify again for some of the European World Cup rounds after his success and results in the past season.

Will Western in Juvenile category. Will is the newbie in the team, joining with a very respectable 8th position overall in the Juvenile category last season, and looking to improve his racing career. Will, like many young riders lives and breathes all things bike, and with a new race bike and strong support he hopes to have a very prosperous season!

Ancillotti UK will also be supporting a select few young, up and coming riders throughout the 2010 season.

Ancillotti UK would like to thank all of the sponsors who have supported the team for 2010 and also in past seasons. In 2010 the team would not be able to run without the brilliant support from Shimano, Funn, Maxxis, 661, Thor, M:Part, Rockshox, Kustom Koating, Total bike Tuning and Ancillotti Italy.

Follow the team on the new blog site: www.ancillottiuk.blogspot.com

Thanks

You need to be a confident mountain biker with a reasonable level of fitness to get the most out of the trip.
